The Girl is Cathie Bartholomew (nee Halley) an Aussie from Sydney on her way home from London. She stayed with us and had a great time. Sam is on the left and I think it is Neill Collie from Sydney. Not sure where he worked?

It was not unknown for the bank boys to make like they were passengers and get on board to sample duty free booze. One of the boys once forgot to get off the ship before it sailed and had to find his own way home from Suva. On one Oriana visit the boys saw it off with a performance of their own on the wharf - the famous action song "Old Macdonald had a farm".
Another cruise ship which called at Lautoka was the Marco Polo. It was leased by Trans Tours and as Sundance and LBJ were major shareholders (100 shares each?) the scrip was passports for boarding.

ANZ Lautoka Soccer Team 1971
In 85 degree heat the ANZ team from Lautoka scored a slashing 1-0 win over BNSW Suva to win the Interbank soccer title. Dansukh Sal scored the winning goal.

Our invite to this Indian Wedding would have probably come from one of Tom Rowe's Ba customers. I don't think it was the one where a white guy guest kissed the bride and almost caused an international incident, given that with traditional arranged marriages the groom may have been yet to have a crack !

Itai (Tai) Island 1971. Notice the old Manly ferry "Bula Ma Cow.
Remember the old Manly Ferry, "The Bula Ma Cow" and the free rides that Danny Costello used to give us out to Itai (Tai) Island. It was really "Rent a Crowd with Steve Cunneen's Bush Band mates". They were wonderful days.
